Following the law procedures adopted Russian child should be registered in the Russian Consulate and his/her parents should not forget to renew his/her Russian passport every 5 years.
The passport renewal procedure is as follows:
One of the adoptive parents should complete the passport application form in the Consulate (on Wednesdays from 2pm till 5pm).
When visiting the Consulate the adoptive parent should bring the following documents:
- 6 passport size child’s photographs and 2 applicant’s photographs.
- Copy and original of the child’s birth certificate.
- Copy and original of the adoption certificate.
- Copy and original of the court decision.
- Copy and original of the child’s Russian passport (personal data page).
- Copies and originals of the adoptive parents’ passports (personal data page).
- Consular fee is
50 pounds for the children under the age of 14 and 100 pounds – for those elder than 14.
In about 3-4 weeks (if the child is under 14) or in 3 months (for those elder than 14) the Consulate official will inform you (please, renew your contact phone number and e-mail address in the child’s registration form) about the child’s passport status. You may come and collect it in the Consulate on public days between 2 pm and 3 pm (personal visiting is required). Upon the passport’s collection in the Consulate, please, be ready to present:
- The original of the child’s birth certificate.
- The child’s Russian passport.
- Original of the adoptive parent’s passport.
- Payment receipt.
